Day tours and Amazon trips can be cancelled up to 48h before for a refund (minus fees). Machu Picchu treks require a non-refundable deposit, because government tickets and Inca Trail permits cannot be refunded or changed.
Yes. The Inca Trail needs a government permit that is limited and sells out months in advance; it's non-refundable and non-transferable. The Salkantay Trek needs no permit, so it's much easier to book last-minute.
Both finish at Machu Picchu. The Inca Trail is the original stone route past Inca sites (permit required); the Salkantay is higher and wilder, with Humantay Lake and a 4,600 m pass, no permit and more availability. Tell us your dates and we'll help you choose.
Yes. Our Machu Picchu Full Day takes the train from Cusco, includes a guided tour of the citadel plus free time, and has you back the same night.
Every tour page lists exactly what's included and what isn't. Typically included: professional guide, transport, meals and entrances/permits as stated. Not included: tips, optional add-ons (e.g. Huayna Picchu) and personal gear.
English, Spanish and Portuguese, with full support before, during and after your trip. Just tell us your preference when booking.
All tours meet at Plaza Regocijo, Cusco. We'll confirm your exact pickup time when you book.
Spend at least two days in Cusco first, stay well hydrated, eat light, go easy on alcohol and try coca tea. Our guides carry emergency oxygen and are first-aid trained on every trek.
We recommend a minimum of two full days in Cusco (3,400 m) before any high-altitude trek, and more if you're arriving straight from sea level.
The dry season (May–September) has the clearest skies; April and October are quieter shoulder months; November–March is green and less crowded but wetter. Note the Inca Trail closes every February for maintenance.
June and July are coldest, with bright dry days but nights that can drop to around 0 °C at altitude, so pack warm layers for the treks.
The Salkantay Pass reaches about 4,600 m (15,090 ft); the Inca Trail's highest point, Dead Woman's Pass, is about 4,215 m (13,830 ft).
Our treks are challenging but achievable for anyone with moderate fitness who acclimatizes properly. Prefer something gentler? We also offer shorter treks and full-day tours.
Layers for warm days and cold nights, a waterproof jacket, broken-in boots, sun protection, a refillable water bottle and a small daypack. We send a full packing list when you book.
